Hazrat Sultan Bahoo (Rahmatullahi Alayh)
Hazrat Sultan Bahoo (1630–1691) was a renowned Sufi saint, scholar, and spiritual reformer of the Indian subcontinent. He is widely recognized as a central figure of the Sarwari Qadri order and one of the most influential voices in classical Islamic spirituality.
Early Life
Born in Shorkot, Punjab, Sultan Bahoo grew up in a deeply spiritual environment under the guidance of his mother, Bibi Rasti, who herself was spiritually elevated. From an early age, he displayed extraordinary spiritual inclination and inner awareness.
Spiritual Lineage
Sultan Bahoo belonged to the Qadri Sufi order, tracing his spiritual lineage back to Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani (رحمہ اللہ علیہ). He later established the Sarwari Qadri branch, emphasizing direct connection with Divine remembrance through Ism-e-Allah Zaat.
Major Works
He authored more than 140 works in Persian and Punjabi, addressing the inner dimensions of faith, purification of the self (nafs), and experiential knowledge of Allah. His Punjabi Abyat remain among the most spiritually profound poetic expressions in Islamic literature.
