In this lesson, you will learn basic numbers and how to talk about dates in Mandarin Chinese. Numbers are used daily for prices, time, and counting.


1️⃣ Numbers 0–10

  • (líng) — 0

  • (yī) — 1

  • (èr) — 2

  • (sān) — 3

  • (sì) — 4

  • (wǔ) — 5

  • (liù) — 6

  • (qī) — 7

  • (bā) — 8

  • (jiǔ) — 9

  • (shí) — 10


2️⃣ Numbers 11–99 (Simple Pattern)

  • 十一 (shí yī) — 11

  • 二十 (èr shí) — 20

  • 二十三 (èr shí sān) — 23

📌 Chinese numbers follow a logical pattern.


3️⃣ Talking About Dates

  • (nián) — year

  • (yuè) — month

  • 日 / 号 (rì / hào) — day

📌 Example:

  • 一月 — January

  • 三号 — the 3rd day


4️⃣ Asking the Date

  • 今天几号? (jīntiān jǐ hào?) — What’s today’s date?

  • 今天是三号 — Today is the 3rd.


5️⃣ Practice Tip

Practice counting objects around you and saying today’s date aloud in Chinese.
